On May 1st, 2013, while attending Women’s eNews (www.womensenews.org) fundraising event at The Mrrriot Essex House I got to interview a very inspiring leader of the 21st century.

That honoree is Dara Richardson-Heron, M.D., The CEO of YWCA USA who shared with me what her vision was for The YWCA under her present watchful eye.

Dr. Richard-Heron said, “that The YMCA serves to empower all girls, women and families so that they can forge the best life possible.”  She continued by saying that, “The YWCA is one of the world’s oldest and largest multi-cultural institutions in the world and that they have been at the forefront as an advocate for the health, safety, education and empowerment of women, girls and families for more than 150 years.  That there is no other organization with the grass roots advocacy network of history of achievements as held by The Y.”  Dr. Richardson-Heron concluded by saying that she was very excited to now utilize all of her skills, all of her experiences and all of her passion to help galvanize the national YWCA movement for the benefit of all.
