Cuba Restaurant-West Village, New York

So the other evening I meet a group of people for dinner at a great restaurant called CubaCuba is located at 222 Thompson Street which is located right off of Washington Square Park.

Cuba serves classic dishes such as roast pig and ropa vieja (Ropa vieja (Spanish for “old clothes”) is one of the national dishes of Cuba, but is also popular in other areas or parts of the Caribbean such as Puerto Rico and Panama. It consists of shredded or pulled stewed beef with vegetables).

Here is what the inside of the restaurant looks like (you immediately feel that you’ve left New York City and you’re “somewhere” else) and that’s because you see cigars being rolled and Cuba music being played live!!!

Now came the tough part.  The menu was sooo interesting but it was on the late side and I wasn’t feeling that hungry so I ordered

This dish was called Ensalada De Pulpo.  It had grilled octopus, baby watercress, roasted fingerling potatoes, piquillo peppers, pickled red onion, capers grain mustard vinaigrette dressing.

You know I tend to order this type of octopus salad when I want something light and it’s on the menu but this octopus salad was Amazing!  The chunks of octopus were sooo large that even after I finished eating the amount that I want, the next image will show you how much was left!!!

Yes, look at those left over Chunks of Octopus. Amazing!!!

So if you’re in Manhattan and want a taste of Cuba without leaving the States, then check out Cuba. It won’t disappoint!
