My friend told me about a new restaurant, Grand Brasserie that opened in Grand Central Station and I said, “Sure, let’s check it out.” The restaurant’s address is 89 East 42nd Street in The Vandebilt Hall.
The New York Times reported that the Grand Brasserie is a 400-seat restaurant with bars that will be open daily until 2 a.m. The Rockwell Group which is behind the design of openings like Coqodaq and the upcoming Seahorse in the W Hotel, set as it’s intention to design a restaurant to feel like a Parisian subway. Now as someone who has never been on a Paris subway I will tell you that the restaurant is massive because it’s basically divided into two parts. There’s the front part and then the back part (which is where my friend and I ate). The menu has a popular French format and there is really something for everyone.
So here I am off the 5 train making my way to Grand Central.

Here is the main hall of Grand Central.

Here is the front entrance to the restaurant which is right outside The Grand Hall.

Here is the front part of the restaurant.

Here is the back room of the restaurant where we ate.

And so what did I decide to order?
I decided that dessert was called for and so I asked for the Dessert Menu.

After much consideration, since I don’t order dessert that often I decided to get the Apple Tart Tatin with caramel sauce along with a cup of Black Coffee.

I can’t say that it’s the best French Apple Tart that I have ever had but it wasn’t bad. I really thought that I’d be getting slices of glazed apples on top but instead it was more of an apple gel and I kind of like was like, “What is this?” . But all in all with a great cup of coffee it did the trick.
So if you’re in the Grand Central area and want to check out the Grand Brasserie then they have a big menu outside the restaurant which will help you make your decision as to what you might like to have.
