Ooh La La Nice Matin

It was a very rainy and nasty Monday night but I had made plans to meet a girlfriend at Nice Matin on the Upper West Side for dinner. So I took the 1 Train and got off at West 79th Street and happily the restaurant was one block walking distance from the stop.

Here is what Nice Matin looks like on the outside on a very rainy and nasty New York City day.

What I learned about Nice Matin was that it has been almost two decades since it first opened. That it has been the Upper West Sides most elegant, beautifully designed and sophisticated dining destination. That it features a wine spectator Grand Award-winning Wine List and an extraordinary, inventive, French Provencal inspired menu created by Chef Any D’Amico who was named “Best Chef” by New York Magazine food editor Gillian Duffy.

So one can say that Nice Matin is the essential French Brasserie and Wine Destination of the Upper West Side.

More about their food in a moment…

But first let’s check out the outside dining area, the bar area and the inside dining area as well.

Here is the outside dining area.

Here is the inside bar area.

And here is the indoor dining room.

So what’s a gal going to order in this Brasserie?

I decided to order the Atlantic Salmon which came with a bed of French Lentils, shaved brussels sprouts, lemon vinaigrette and grain mustard beurre blance sauce (which of courseLol I had them put on the side!)

Yes, first came the amazing French roll with the choice of butter or oil to cover it. And now, I will tell you this could have been one of the best salmon dishes that I have ever, ever eaten. The combination of the salmon on the lentils with shaved raw brussels sprouts cooked in lemon vinaigrette was off the charts amazing. Just amazing!!

I finished off dinner with a cup of black coffee and it was definitely one of the best meals that I’ve ever had in recent months.

So if you’re on the Upper West Side, don’t hesitate.
