The other evening I took the 4 Train to the Wall Street stop to meet my friend at Maison Passerelle which is located at 1 Wall Street. I decided to get to the area about an hour earlier to check out the new French Department store Printemps. Printemps is Paris’s biggest department store and they just opened their New York store. Yeah! The store is just a walk from the restaurant.
Here are some images of the store…

Then it was off to the restaurant. Here is the outside of Maison Passerelle (right outside the train stop) and the front door.

Now before I share the images of inside the restaurant let me just say that Maison Passerelle is located on the first floor of a 50 story Art Deco landmark building. It opened about a month after the store Printemps opened. While Maison Passerelle does have some dishes that you’d probably expect to eat in a luxury Parisian department store (even though the restaurant is not in the department store…)I’m happy to say that instead their menu is a fusion of Haitian, Caribbean and African flavors. I do want to say upfront that the menu is very pricey so be prepared and so as a friend of mine used to say “Forewarned is forarmed.”
So here is the bar and dining area.

So what did I decide to order?
I wasn’t that hungry and with a limited menu I decided to order their Roasted Farm Chicken. The chicken was made with preserved lemon, green olives soubise, ras el hanout and harissa jus. It had different types of condiments and sauce that I was used to having a chicken prepared with and as a result, it was… a nice, “new” type of chicken tasting experience!

So if you’re in the Wall Street area, check out the new French department store, Printemps and their adjoining restaurant Maison Passerelle.
Immerse yourself in the Ooh, La. La.
