Earth Day Event

This Earth Day, I attended an event with BreakBread World. The event was hosted by at the townhouse of Elena Sapir in Chelsea. This Earth Day event began with a brief tour of Elena’s nature-inspired art collection which featured The Tree of Life by Nikolina Kovalenko (photo below). Then we had a living room room chat where we all got to introduce ourselves. Then we got to break bread to experience not only food from La Botaniste but to also experience the BreakBread World Dining Experience with founders Martha Williams and John Scilope. John guided us at the first table(the second table was guided by Martha) into a soulful, food and gathering process by using their very interesting BreakBread World Conversation Journey Deck. The Deck was designed to help people, slow down and have meaningful insights and then share those insights with the folks at the table for the intention of collective wisdom. At my table, the question we were asked at the beginning of the meal was taken from the book, The Hidden Life of Trees where they talk about how complicated the underground fungal networks of trees are and how they send nutrients to other trees that need them . We were asked to share what each of thought of someone at the table and how they contributed to support the others at the table just as the tree supports his neighboring tree.s In addition to being asked that questions we were each given supportive prompt cards that would help guide us through this conversation if needed.

It was a wonderful dining experience because people became very authentic and shared what they most likely wouldn’t share at a dinner without this BreakBread Deck. I completely enjoyed the dining experience and here are some images of from the event.
