OK. True confessions. I’ve been to Cancun twice but never Mexico City so when I had the opportunity to see the play Real Women Have Curves on Broadway and have dinner at a Mexican restaurant before that, I jumped at the chance to have a New York Mexican experience.
So I took the N Train to 42nd Street, Times Square and started walking toward Amor Loco which is located at 124 West 46th Street.

So here is the front of the restaurant, the bar area and the inside.

Amor Loco definitely had me feeling that I was in Mexico and all a train ride away!
Now, the restaurant was founded in 2019 and their mission was to bring bold flavors and an exciting experience to New York City community. The restaurant did provide just that type of space and you could tell that the Mexican cuisine was made with love and great passion. The guests at my table ordered burritos and tacos and they couldn’t stop raving as they ate in delight.
What I ordered was Quesadilla with chicken and all the ingredients were fresh and fabulous!

Then we left Amor Loco for the play Real Women Have Curves which was playing at The James Earl Jones Theatre. The theatre is located at 128 West 48th Street and so an easy walk from the restaurant.

Real Women Have Curves was originally a film directed by Patricia Cardos, based on the play of the same name by Josefina Lopez, who also co-authored the screenplay for the film with George LaVoo. The film starred American Ferrera and became famous after winning the Audience Award for the best dramatic fil and Special Jury Prize for acting in the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.
I can tell you that without knowing what to expect that I found the musical uplifting and inspiring and it shows that resilience of the spirit is everything.
So if you want a taste of Mexico in one evening, then check out Amor Loco and then walk two blocks to see a very spirited and uplifting musical, Real Women Have Curves.
