At the end of December, amidst the holiday season forty-three women of distinction from the United States and abroad will make their bow to society at the 62nd International Debutante Ball and Dinner Dance. These debutantes will represent England, France, Scotland, The Netherlands and thirteen American states.  This very colorful and patriotic event will be held at The Pierre Hotel, 2 East 61st Street at Fifth Avenue.

Now the tradition of The International Debutante Ball began in 1954 by Beatrice Dinsmore Joyce and since 1983, her niece, Margaret Hedberg has continued on as The General Chairman.  In addition, The International Debutante Ball Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit has donated to many charities, but primarlily it donates to The Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, Coast Guard and Airmen’s Club of New York City.

Now, The Soldier’s and Sailor’s Club was originally founded in 1919, by Mrs. Cornelia Barnes Rogers and Mrs.Theodore Roosevelt, Jr along with General John J. Pershing.  The mission of the club is to promote the general welfare of the men and women of The Armed Forces of the United States, it’s Allies, and as well as their respective families.  This is all done by maintaining and offering club-type facilities along with lodging accommodations at a very subsidized rate.
