Shall We Dance? The Pertroushka Ball

Shall we dance? On a bright cloud of music shall we fly? Shall we dance? Shall we then say “Goodnight and mean goodbye?” Those lyrics may come from the Broadway show, The King and I but on February 10th, 2017 , The Pertoushka Ball hosted by The Russian Children’s Welfare Society will give New Yorkers the opportunity to glide across the floor and enter their own world of enchantment.

The Petroushka Ball which began in 1965 started as a small tea dance by a group of Russian families.  These families simply wanted to raise money to help underprivileged Russian children.  Since then the Ball has become of of New York’s Society’s most vibrant and anticipated annual events.  This years 52nd Ball will be held at The Plaza Hotel, 5th Avenue and Central Park South. The cocktail reception is at 8 pm, dinner and entertainment is at 9 and after 10 pm there is continuos dancing.  The Lester Lanin Orchestra takes you through the evening with an emphasis on Russian Folk and Gypsy Music.
