Antarctica in its Majesty

On Day 5 of my NCL cruise on the Norwegian Star to Antarctica we began to find ourselves closer to one of the coldest and least populated continents of our planet. The Antarctic Sheet is the single biggest mass of ice in the world and can sometimes be up to four miles think. The continent as a whole contains about 90 percent of the planet’s freshwater ice and around 70 percent of the total fresh water on earth. No humans live in Antarctica permanently. The folks who go there are there to learn about Antarctica and so are mostly scientists.

The route that the ship took was that it cruised Deception Island, Admiralty Bay and Elephant Island.

There are really no words to describe the overbearing majesty of these Antarctic Islands so I’m going to simply let you observe for yourself and “see” it’s majesty with your own eyes…

So here is one lunch’s view and one gym class view that I will never forget!

Should you visit Antartica? That is something that only you can decide but I strongly recommend the adventure. It is one that you will always have with you.
