The Mark and The Met

It was a gorgeous Sunday, late morning when I arrived at 77th and Madison to join a group of friends to have Brunch at The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges which is located in The Mark Hotel. After Brunch we were off to see the latest exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum called Sleep Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. But more about that later. First let’s eat!!

Let’s go inside…

The various dining areas…

We were lucky enough to sit in this very sky lit area and I was very grateful for that!

So what did I decide to order?

Since this was about 12pm and a very warm day I decided to order Avocado Toast with two Poached Eggs. That and a cup of coffee. It was a delightful selection and the avocado was really great!

And then it was off to The Met to see the exhibit Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

The exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, shares with its visitors 220 garments and accessories which span over 4 decades . All are visually connected through themes of nature, which also serve as a metaphor for the transience of fashion. Visitors are able to smell the aromatic histories of hat with floral motifs and experience butterflies on fashion made out of feathers. Throughout the collection are also a series of “sleeping beautifies” garments that can no longer be dressed on mannequins due to their extreme fragility!

But rather than discuss the exhibit here are some interesting pieces from the collection. Enjoy!

And let’s not forget The Mime Guy in front of The Met plastering himself! Only in New York!
