Sharm El Sheikh

After our Nile Cruise (see previous post) we flew back to Cairo for a few days and then it was another flight to Sharm El Sheikh for some rest and relaxation which we sorely needed. While in Cairo, we visited Old Cairo again, The Zabbaleen: The Garbage People of Cairo, the Coptic Christian Church, The Hanging Church and the oldest synagogue in Egypt which was also located in the same location.

But now it was time for Sharm El Sheikh and I was definitely ready for a change of pace.

Sharm El-Sheikh is known as one of Egypt’s most popular tourist destinations. Sharm is located on the Sinai Peninsula’s southern tip and is especially known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear water and vibrant marine life. What I also learned was that Sharm has numerous ancient landmarks, including the 12th century Monastery of Saint Catherine and the historic Old Town of Sharm El-Maya which I was lucky enough to visit.

So my girlfriend who planned this entire trip booked us at The Royal Savoy. She also decided that since she believed that she was Cleopatra in another life that we needed to stay at The Cleopatra Villa.

Well, it was an absolutely amazing experience and here are some photos that highlight the Villa and it’s surroundings. Now you can book a regular room at the hotel as well and they are outstanding as well.
