Grounds for Sculpture

This past weekend I visited my friends in Vernon, New Jersey. I took the 196 Express Bus from Port Authority and got off at the last stop which is Warwick, New York, only a 20 minute ride from Vernon, New Jersey. My girlfriend picked me up and we went to her Condo in the Crystal Springs Resort. That evening we used their amazing facilities and then on Friday got “serious” and my girlfriend drove about two hours to the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey.

The Grounds for Sculpture was established in 1992 to promote an understanding of and appreciation for contemporary sculpture. Today Grounds for Sculpture combines art and amazing spaces to engage all visitors in the artists’ works of invention. The property which is 42 acres and takes three hours to go through features works by well-known and emerging American and International artists through a rotating schedule which also include publications, lectures, workshops and other educational programs.

We only had an hour to walk through so here is what the grounds look like and here are some pieces of presently exhibited sculpture.

By the way, they have a lovely restaurant on the grounds called Rats. We ate there and here are some photos.

I ordered a Grilled Caesar Salad with Anchovy Crumbs, pecorno, black pepper, and yuzu caesar dressing. I also added Chicken to the mix. It was just delightful!

So if you’re up for an adventure, then Grounds for Sculpture is definitely worth visiting. You’ll get lost in the nature, in the art and delight in eating in these very special grounds.
