My friend decided that she wanted to visit the newly renovated Waldorf Astoria at 301 Park Avenue which was officially reopened to the public after an 8 year renovation. The renovation was designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill. Now, the project had a 2 billion dollar price tag and it sits on a full city block between East 49th and 50th Street and between Park and Lexington Avenue. The hotel has 372 residential units in addition to it’s 375 Guest Rooms. It’s interesting to note that before it’s renovation the hotel had 1,400 hotel rooms which then became the 372 residential units and the additional 375 Guest Rooms. What a feat! Another interesting thing to note is that it’s Doulas Elliman Development Marketing which oversees the sales and marketing for the 372 residential units which include studio apartments to several very large penthouses.
But why use words to describe the pure delight of this renovated hotel. It’s super classy and has a very luxurious feel.
Let’s check it out and then you can also see how amazing the dinner was at their restaurant Lex Yard.
Let’s start with the outside and the main floor interior lobby.

Here are some photos of their restaurant, Lex Yard. It was a lovely restaurant and the food was great. I split a Waldorf Salad with my friend, then ordered Elysian Lamb Chops with Creamed Spinach, Potato Puffs and Lamb Sauce and then for dessert chose Bergamot Olive Oil Cake with Caramelized Blackberries. The food was fresh and extremely well prepared. I’m looking forward to returning in the near future. And it’s sooo quiet. That “alone” is worth the return visit!
