It was Mother’s Day and a friend of mine decided that since both our Mom’s were in Heaven that we should have brunch out and celebrate their lives.

I thought, “What a great idea!” and my friend selected BlackBarn which is located at 19 East 26th Street right across from the Madison Square Park. In checking their web site I read that:
In the years after high school, childhood friends John Doherty and Tom Struzzieri became celebrated professionals in their respective fields: the culinary arts and equestrianism. The two then set out to establish a restaurant that merged their passions, expertise, and collective love of New York City.
After over 25 years working as the youngest Executive Chef of New York’s Waldorf Astoria, John brought his expertise and creative vision to life at BlackBarn. In collaboration with Tom, the partners developed the multi layered BLACKBARN brand in the heart of Nomad where seasonal, rustic fare meet a contemporary farmhouse atmosphere.
So let’s check out the BlackBarn experience.

Here is the inside bar area and dining room.

So what did I decide to order?

I decided to go as light as possible so I chose a Starter of Avocade Toast with heirloom tomatoes, baked ricotta and a poached egg. With that I decided to order a side of Spicy Brussels Sprouts with bacon larden and blue cheese which I had them put on the side.

Well, the food was all fresh, tasty and excellent and it was a very nice brunch!
I did need a cup of coffee to help me enjoy the meal and that was excellent as well!

So if you’re in the Nomad area I invite you to try BlackBarn. It’s a very comfortable and tasty dining experience with great service!
