A friend of mine called me one night and said, “Sora, I just got a week off from work in 2 weeks, let’s go somewhere!” So after much debate we decided to take a short 5 day visit to Vienna with her husband and son. What I learned before arriving is that Vienna is that the city lies on the Danube River and it’s one of the world capitals of music That many of the great composers lived in Vienna which include Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms have lived, .Today, fortunately, the modern city still reflects its elegant past. I also learned that the Celtic people settled in the Vienna area in ancient times and in the 1st century the Romans established a military post at the site as did other controlling groups. That Vienna was the capital of the Habsburg family from the late 1200s until the early 1900’s and The Habsburgs ruled the Austria area as part of a series of powerful empires and as previously mentioned, Vienna was their capital.

Now, during The Habsburg rule of Vienna, Vienna became one of the world’s greatest cities. It was then that The Habsburg rule ended in 1918 and Vienna then became the capital of the new country of Austria. German troops captured Austria in 1938 and foreign troops controlled the city from 1945-1955. After that, Vienna became the headquarters of the United Nations and other international organizations and it’s culture now continuously attracts tourists from all over the world.

I decided in this post to simply post the buildings and streets of Vienna. As a result you will get a sense of the imperial majesty of its past and the refined elegance of its present.
