Laut Restaurant is located at 15 E. 17th Street and serves Singaporean, Malaysian and Thai cuisine.
I had been to their sister restaurant in Williamsburg Brooklyn, The Chinese Club at www.thechineseclubnyc.com and thought that the food was so divine there that I knew that I had to try Laut.
So here is how the inside looks. So interesting. I really felt that I had left New York and was somewhere in South East Asia.
So what did I decide to order???
I decided to order on the lite side and so I ordered two of what Laut calls Small Plates.
The first small plate was Satay Chicken with spices on skewers, with small slices of onions and cucumbers and an amazing peanut sauce. With that I ordered the Gado Gado Salad.
Gado Gado Salad is a combination of mixed greens, sweet potato, bean curd, jicama (a sweet root vegetable that looks like a turnip), string bean beansprouts, a boiled egg, bitter crackers and peanut sauce on the side. OK. The combination of textures and flavors were Amazing!!!
The entire dinner was beyond impressive from the restaurant’s South East Asian environment to detail, the freshness of the food and their different flavors and textures were a wonderful, wonderful, sensory experience.
So I completed recommend Laut. It won’t disappoint!
