Madison Avenue’s Nello Restaurant

Today I met a friend for lunch and we decided to meet at Nello which is located at 696 Madison Avenue between 61st and 62nd Street.

Nello has been described as a restaurant where “art, fashion, politics, entertainment, aristocracy, and finance converge to create a world of urbane sophistication, genuine leisure and cosmopolitan chic on Madison Avenue. Our casual elegance, northern Italian cuisine, and accommodating staff have brought famed clientele our private dining room for over 25 years.”

Sounds like fun right…

Well, lucky us we got an outside table and truthfully, I felt like I was in some European city just leisurely enjoying the perks of an outdoor cafe taking in the sights and sounds.

It was a nice change for a Tuesday afternoon in Manhattan.

Here is what the inside looks like:

So what did I decide to order?

I decided to order La Contadina which was malloted chicken breast with Indivia and GorgonzolaI. That is a salad of endives, gorgonzola cheese and balsamic roasted walnuts. I chose that salad to be the salad that came with the main course.

So I really enjoyed the chicken (by the way there was a bread basket on the table-) but I didn’t enjoy the gorgonzola cheese with the endives.  It was just too mushy tasting and now I know-not to order that type of cheese again.  But the walnuts were greatLol and so it was all good!

Then they brought out the dessert trayOMG!

So it was really too hot to have dessertSoLol and so I decided to go easy and just ordered a scoop of Pistachio ice-cream and a cup of Black Coffee.

The ice-cream was good! and it was just what I needed to deal with the weather…

So do I recommend Nello?

It’s very expensive and unless you want a quick trip to a European City to people watch and leave New York for an hour or two, then I recommend it.  But again, it’s very expensive. So forearmed is forewarned 🙂 🙂 🙂

At least I didn’t have to go to the airport to “escape”SoLol!!
