It’s always great when going out to dinner in New York City if you enjoy the food and feel really delighted for the entire “restaurant” experience. The other evening was one of those nights. I met a friend at Amali which is located at 115 E. 60th Street and the whole “experience” was great.
Amali’s spirit is inspired by the Mediterranean way of life. This emphasizes vegetables, olive oil, cheese, grains, and fish. Their menu also reflects the historical cuisines that are shared by Greece, Italy, France and Spain. Their wine list offers approximately 400 selections and has been called “daring” by The New York Times and “one of the best Mediterranean selections in Midtown” by New York Magazine. They state that “they are committed to working with family farms and small scale fishing boats and with natural winemakers”. As far as I’m concerned everything that I experienced at dinner reflected these choices..
Here is the outside of the restaurant.

Here is the inside of the restaurant which I found very warm, cozy and comfortable.

So what did I decide to order?
I decided on Grilled Lemon Chicken with New Potatoes and Caramelized Lemon Jus. It was fabulous. It was done just right from the chicken to the new potatoes. It was great!
But first pretzeled bread with whipped butter with pepper, olive oil and salt on top. The combination of that on the bread pretzel was soooo good!

Now, yum…The Grilled Lemon Chicken.

And of course, there’s that delightful cup of coffee to end a lovely evening.

I definitely recommend Amali if you’re in the Midtown area. It won’t disappoint!
