Le Bilboquet

There are several different Le Bilboquet restaurants in the New York area. There is the one that I just had lunch in with a friend which is located at 20 East 60th Street, there is one in Sag Harbor, there is one named Fleming at Le Bilboquet at 27 E. 67th Street and there is also a Cafe Bilboquet located at 26 East 60th Street.

So I met a friend outside Le Bilboquet on 60th Street which had no name on the front of the restaurant nor any address number. I kind of arrived at 60th Street and Madison Avenue and followed my GPS arrow.Lol until it saidLol you have arrived!

Here is the bar and dining area. It was very simple but very French…

So what did I find out about Le Biblioquet when I googled the restaurant…

“How did it all start? We began as an intimate boîte in Manhattan’s Upper East side. The year was 1986 and we had only 35 seats. Yet each night felt like a special family reunion as we entertained regulars and royals, celebrities and chess masters, artists and editors, Euros and Americans. Everyone united in good, fanciful fun. Such was the excitement that in 2013, we moved to a larger NYC space (seating over 100 guests). And we’re still having fun.

We never thought the party would continue this long, but no one seems to want to go home. Or maybe … they’re already home. Bilbo, as we are affectionately called, has caught on far and wide. We’ve expanded to locales such as Denver and Palm Beach, Sag Harbor and Atlanta. We also have our petit Café Bilboquet in New York and neighboring Mediterranean Fleming. Each restaurant is unique in its character, design, art work and local specials. The consistent thread? The same beloved cocktails, the classic comfort dishes (including the owner’s own Cajun chicken recipe), the jovial service and inimitable Euro vibe.

We’re often been asked how we remain current. Le Bilboquet was the whimsy of a French, bon vivant–Philippe Delgrange– living out his American dream to the fullest. Delgrange always puts his heart and soul into Bilbo: Encouraging guests to table hop, converse, make bold culinary choices, let their guard down and have that extra glass of champagne! Because in the end, life should be celebrated!

So welcome to Le Bilboquet. Make it your home. And please, don’t let too much time pass before we meet again.

A bientôt!”

Well, welcome indeed.

The entire wait staff who were very nice and very courteous were all French. It was kind of fun and at 2pm they moved the tables and had a DJ blasting Euro Club type of music. Very French! The people were what I’d call a cool New York crowd and it was in part an experience as well.

So…what did I decide to order?

Now the menu is pricey but I wanted to keep it light so I ordered La Cobb Salade with grilled chicken, an egg, bacon, avocado, cherry tomatoes and blue cheese. It was very good especially because they first put great bread on the table as well.

I topped it off with an American cup of coffee and I felt very good about the whole thing.

So if you want to eat and experience the DJ on Saturday at 2pm then their website explains how to make a reservation for that 2pm Saturday Lunch. I didn’t know how to do that when I made my original reservations but now I know that I have to email them on their website to get one.

So whatever you decide, Avez un bonne temps!
