Dowling’s at the Carlyle

The other rainy evening I met a girlfriend at Hotel Carlyle to have dinner at their restaurant Dowling’s at the Carlyle.

The Carlyle Restaurant as it was previously known closed in March 2020 and now the restaurant is named Dowlings at The Carlyle and is run by Executive Chef Sylvain Delpique, formerly of the 21 Club

The menu at Dowling’s highlights classic American and European dishes, including oysters, steak tartare and escargot as starters, and entrées including whole branzino, chicken paillard and a burger served with fries. The restaurant is also open for breakfast and lunch and dinner.

Dowling’s is named for the hotel’s former owner Robert Whittle Dowling, who bought and elevated the hotel in the ‘40s. The 80-seat dining room, with dark wooden walls and leather banquettes, was designed by New York firm Tonychi Studio. The interior honors the hotel’s history, highlighting former decorator Dorothy Draper and illustrator Ludwig Bemelmans; the restaurant features newly acquired prints and paintings that pay homage to the “Madeline” author.

So let’s take a look at this fabulous room!

There is a small area where you can meet for a drink which is outside the restaurant which you need to take a few steps to enter.

So what did I decide to order?

Well, first came this fabulous bread for two.

And since I wasn’t that hungry I decided to order Faroe Island Salmon without the Parmesan Crust but with Artchoke Barigoule, Swiss Chard and English Pea Puree. Of courseLol, I had them put everything on the side! I know a pretty small piece of salmon for such a big plate but it was really good and turned out to be enough with the Artichoke Barigoule on the side.

And then that very necessaryLol cup of coffee!

One other thing I want to share with you is that this is what I found on their web site!
