Cafe Carlyle Hosts Isaac Mizrahi

It was time to try something new so my friend and I booked The Isaac Mizrahi Show at The Cafe Carlyle which is situated in The Hotel Carlyle that is located at 36 East 76 Street on Madison.

So why The Issac Mizrahi Show?

I’ve always been a fan of Issac Mizrachi ever since I saw his movie, Unzipped, which showcased his design of his Fall 1994 collection and which received an award at The Sundance Film Festival.

In addition, I learned that Mizrahi has worked extensively in the entertainment industry as an actor, host, writer, designer and producer for over 30 years. Adding to that, he also hosted his own television talk show The Isaac Mizrahi Show for seven years, has written two books, and has made countless appearances in movies and on television. He also served as a judge on Project Runway: All-Stars.

Mizrahi has also directed productions of A Little Night Music and The Magic Flute for the Opera Theatre of St. Louis. Annually, he now also directs and narrates his production of the children’s classic Peter and The Wolf at The Guggenheim Museum in New York.

Finally, that besides performing at Cafe Carlyle, that he has also performed at Joe’s Pub, West Bank Cafe and City Winery locations across the country. At present, Mizrachi has his own production company, Isaac Mizrachi Entertainment, under which he always has several projects in the works.

So let’s take a look at the Cafe Carlyle experience…

The very small bar area.

The Show Menu

Now, I’m not going to say that the evening wasn’t very expensive. It was. The ticket at the table for the show was the cost of a Broadway orchestra seat or more (depending on which table you chose to sit at) and dinner was Prix Fixed and close to $100 per person. All I can say before I continue the post is that it was worth every penny. The ambiance of the room and Mizrahi’s performance was like being transported to another time in history and was extroardinarily very “New York.” It was great! It was really great!!!

Here is what I ordered…

First came the Focaccio bread.

Then came the Cesar Salad.

Then Faroe Island Salmon with Fingerlings and some Green Beans.

And of course I need that cup of coffee, to complete the meal.

Now, here are two images of the one and only Isaac Mizrahi.

Mizrahi’s repertoire included songs by Cole Porter, Billy Joel and also his own personal creations. And the stand up humor in between songs was well, “typical Mizrahi,” blunt, brash and hysterically funny!!!

So it was a great evening and if you decide to really treat yourself, then check out the schedule at the Cafe Carlyle right here and book now.
