In my first post on arriving in Egypt titled Hello to Cairo , I shared some of the sights on the journey. Now it was time to leave Cairo and we did that by train. Yes, we took local train where we were supposed to have luxury sleep compartments. My girlfriend’s father thought it would be less money to take the train but even he “deeply” regretted it after our experience and I would never, yes “never” take the overnight train in Egypt again.
Our train to Aswan took over 13 hours and the conditions were less than clean or comfortable. The sleep compartments were very small, the food (well truthfully, I wouldn’t feed it to a dog), we had no heat in the compartment and the bathroom was cold, dirty and had no toilet paper. Need I say more.
Here are some photos of a journey, which I will “never” take again. If there is a next time, then I would only fly from Cairo to Aswan. Just say’n.
