Queenstown

Well, it was time to leave Australia and fly to Queenstown, New Zealand, one of New Zealand’s most popular towns. Queenstown is nestled on the shores of Lake Whakatipu in the southwest of New Zealand’s South Island and is surrounded by the majestic Southern Alps. Queenstown was approximately a 3 hour and 15 minute flight from Melbourne, Australia and I was looking forward to the adventure!

Now, Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of New Zealand and thrill-seekers from all over the world come here as do out-door enthusiasts and the lovers of great natural beauty.

Before I share my adventure to Milford Sound here are some images of Queenstown!

On Day 2 in Queenstown, we went to Milford Sound. Milford Sound is a fjord (A fjord is a long, narrow inlet with steep sides or cliffs that is often accompanied by deep waters and dramatic landscapes/They are typically formed by the submergence of a glaciated valley/They are commonly found in regions with past glacial activity, such as Norway and New Zealand.)

Here are some images of the experience.

So after an amazing boat ride in the fjord we were offered the option of flying back to Queenstown and being brought to our hotel or taking that 5 hour bus ride back. Most of the group opted to be flown back and that gave us the most majestic view of the Sound. It was a 12 seater plane and the views were spectacular!
