Brooklyn’s Humorville

Last week, I signed up for an amazing experience called Humorville.

Truthfully, I had no idea of what the experience would be like other than it was located in Brooklyn and who doesn’t need a little or a lotLol of humor in their life these days!

I took the L Train to Montrose Avenue, got off and started to walk to my adventure!

Now I grew up in Brooklyn and I used to be on the L Train all the time so that this trip was in part down Memory Lane and me I was ok with that.

I soon arrived at Humorville which is located at 164 Meserole Street.

Again, I had no idea of what to expect but as previously mentioned I was completely open to the experience whatever it turned out to be.

As I found out, Humorville is a place where you get to know and appreciate yourself in a very fun and deeply experiential way, all in a very warm and generous communal atmosphere.

You get to marry yourself in Humorville at The Humorville Marriage Bureau as well as vote yourself into Presidency for what you care about at the Humorville Elections Board,

There is also a Public Library, a Telephone Company and a Post Office as well. Each of these centers (think Montessouri classroom) you get to engage in self-expression and connection and all combined with community celebration.

It’s a fully immersive experience that lasts about 2 hours and each person experiences it differently but all as part of a Humorville community.

I thought that the experience was the Cat’s Meow. It was so wonderful and so deeply soul touching. I completely recommend it to anyone who is geographically available to Brooklyn.

For anyone that isn’t just think about what Reba McEntire said, which is, “To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone.” or as Mark Twain said, “Humor is the good-natured side of a truth.”

Here are some photos from the experience.
