So in a previous post I couldn’t stop raving about the restaurant Copinette for it’s amazing American cuisine with French influence. Having said that I couldn’t resist trying Amy Babic’s second restaurant Kurant which is located at 1091 2nd Avenue between 57th and 58th Street.

Kurant is a wine bar that has a huge and extensive menu. So to take you on a journey of what’s offered at this amazing wine bar I’m going to let you mouth water your way through by the choices that my friend and I made but before I do that here is the bar and inside area.

So being a lovely NYC evening my friend and I decided to begin with a glass of prosecco.

Then we went on by ordering two appetizers to share.

Grilled Octopus Salad

Formaggi Board
The Grilled Octopus Salad with it’s mixed greens, sweet peppers, onions, olive oil, lemon and parsley was by far the best grilled octopus salad that I have ever eaten. All ingredients were fresh and the grilled octopus was extremely tender and very tasty. It was great!
The Formaggi Board was Amazing. We selected a three cheese board and that included a Broschetta Truffle cheese which is made of sheep and cow’s milk and is enhanced with black truffle and which was extremely tender! The second cheese that we selected for the Board was French Brie ( made of cow’s milk which was soft and rich tasting) and the third cheese we selected we selected was Manchego Cheese which made from Sheep’s milk was firm and buttery. Served with that formidable Formaggi Board was toasted raisin bread , grapes and fig jam. So unbelievably yum!
As is that wasn’t enoughLol next came our main dishes.
My friend ordered the Filet Mignon. It was an 8 ounce fillet which was served with asparagus, mashed potatoes and in a red wine demi glace.

My friend couldn’t stop raving as to the freshness and the quality of the ingredients and the way it was all prepared!
I ordered the Organic Chicken that came with lemon garlic marinated breast, roasted potatoes and brussels sprouts with Manchego Cheese.

Organic Chicken
I eat a lot of different types of chicken dishes when I meet a friend but this chicken dish was just great. The way that each of the ingredients was prepared especially the Manchego cheese that was used to enhance really put this chicken dish on the map for me. So good!
And then it was time for dessert. Yes, we really went all out tonight. 🙂 I hadn’t seen my friend because of Covaid for ions and we were really in the mindset to totally celebrate through food!!
So for dessert my friend ordered New York Cheesecake and I ordered a Tartufo (which had a Zabaione cream center which was surrounded by chocolate gelato and caramelized hazelnuts). It was divine (Oh, my!) and so was my friend’s cheesecake which I just had to taste.

And to top off our post-pandemic celebration we both ordered a Kurant specialty cocktail which was the Espressotini, which comprised Ketel One, Kahlua, Baileys and Expresso. It completely rocked and I can’t wait to go back to have this again. Oh, my goodness!!

So I have nothing but raves for this gem of a NYC Wine Bar. The food was divine, the prices very fair and I simply can’t wait to go back. So if you’re in the Bloomingdale’s area, walk over one avenue and you’ll have a great drinking and/or dining experience. Loved it!
