Another fascinating Japanese Attraction was the Ninja and Kabuki Experience in Shinjuku, Tokyo. This 80 minute show was directed by Denjiro Tanaka, a former Kabuki actor. The show provides the audience member with an easy and entertaining way to experience “authentic Kabuki”. Kabuki is a form of traditional Japanese drama with highly stylized song, mime and dance and is completely performed only by male actors. The performances also includes the use of very exaggerated gestures and body movements to express emotions and include historical plays, domestic dramas and dance pieces.
Using the structural art form of the Kabuki experience the director also uses actual men and women trained Ninjas to help support the story line as well as the many pieces of the drama. Included in this performance is an interactive educational component where the audience learns several Ninja moves and learns several sword wheeling Ninja positions. It was a lot of fun!!!
Here are some photos from the experience which I highly recommend.
